1. History 1

Didcot is better known for its Steam Railway Centre and Power Station, which dominates the landscape. However Didcot has had a Rugby team since 1933 making it one of the older clubs in the area.
The club disbanded at the start of World War II and did not reform until 1955-6 and joined the Oxfordshire Union in 1977/78, following county boundary changes.
Due to the 'working mans' nature of the town the club has never been able to generate the necessary funds to obtain its own pitch or club house. Partly due to the lack of facilities the club was not able to attract all players living in the town some of whom preferred to travel to neighbouring clubs with better facilities. After a long struggle the club gave in to the inevitable and withdrew from the Berks Bucks & Oxon 2 league in 2001. By the end of the season the club had disbanded and any remaining players went to play at various local clubs.
