As we go down 3-2 to League Leaders Gwalchmai

Saturday, (30/09), we made the short journey to League Leaders Gwalchmai in another mouth watering Derby. We knew that we were going to be in for a tough game, but confidence was high after the win at Aberffraw the week before coming into the game.

Three changes from the game against Aberffraw as Ioan, Callum and James came in for Kieran, Sam and Dion with Tomos deputising in goal for the Missing Kieran.

With the Weather conditions being wet and windy throughout, the first half began quite brightly for Llan as we were trying to force the issue and take the game and disrupt Gwalchmai at their game from the off. We were positive in our play throughout the first half and got our reward on the 25th Minute when Josh Evans received the ball from Aaron Green to turn and take a shot with the aid of a deflection to take it beyond the Home GK into the bottom corner to make it 1-0 for the Away side. The aim now was to keep the hosts at bay until Half Time, but unfortunately the Home side equalised just before Half Time, with former Llan player Chris Bennett taking the ball in his stride before rounding Tomos in the goal and composing himself to slot in the equaliser to make it 1-1.

Half Time - Gwalchmai 1 - 1 Llan

With weather conditions still poor, Second Half began with both teams trying to set the tempo to go and get that all important goal to take the lead in the match. And on the hour mark it was the Home side that took the lead through their striker Kaine Bentley who brilliantly beat 3 or 4 defenders before calmly slotting beyond Tomos in the goal to make it 2-1 to Gwalchmai. It was all hands on deck for Llan again as they tried to up the ante to get back into the game and find that all important equaliser. Llan decided to bring Gwion Owen in place of James Burgess to get some fresh legs into attack and it nearly paid dividence as Gwion found himself free in the box, but unfortunately his shot was blocked by the Home Defender and then after that Gareth Allman found his fierce drive saved well by the Home GK. But it was the Home side that found the next and highly important goal as a throw in was directed to the centre of the field, and with Chris Bennett alert to the Danger, he intercepted the ball, and with Tomos off his line he decided to hit the ball first time into an empty net to make it 3-1 for the Home side.

The drams wasn't over yet as Llan's never say die attitude found them awarded a penalty in injury time. Up stepped Gareth Allman, only to see his effort saved by the Home GK but Callum Roberts was there to retrieve the rebound to smash the ball home to make it 3-2 and that's how the game ended.

Full Time - Gwalchmai 3 - 2 Llan

Overall in Wet and horrible conditions, it was a good game to watch and credit must go to both teams for the effort. But we fell short again to pick up vital points and carry on our momentum from the victory a week before. But, again a lot of positives to take from the game as we take it to another Anglesey Derby, Away vs Amlwch Town on Saturday (07/10).
