The day, hosted by Chairman Scott Crispin, President Scott Hayward & Coach Wayne Kinton, who had suspiciously made himself unavailable for selection with the promise of lunchtime food and beers available, kicked off with all available sponsors meeting at Banlga for a lunchtime feast.
(Thanks to the guys there for opening especially for the club as they are not usually open at lunchtime)
I'm told a great time was had by all and the food, as ever, was excellent. Topics of conversation varied from business, to rugby and inevitably to beer.

The highlight of the day followed, as the sponsors took the opportunity to have photos taken with the incredibly good looking playing squad(and Jack Hodges) in our new playing kit which has been entirely funded by the generous sponsors of the club.

Cosby RFC is a rugby club at the very heart of the community. Many of the sponsors are players, ex players, friends of the club and local businesses. It is a really special thing to be able to interact with those that support the club so well on a regular basis. It is one of the many things that makes this club such a special place to play rugby.

Unfortunately, we could not get the win on Saturday to cap the day off, but a really good performance with the odd flashpoint was more than enough to keep the sponsors engaged. Maybe even convincing one or two to don some boots before the end of the season or on Presidents' Day. The spirit on the touchline was great and everyone got behind the team, it really is great to see friendships made through the club still apparent after 20years of knowing each other.

After the game we retired to The Bull's Head, one of our longest serving sponsors, for a beverage or two, as is a Saturday night tradition,where we picked apart the day's game and collected the weekly fines for transgressions during the game.

All told, it was a very successfully Sponsors' day. Thanks goes to Phil Wrighton for coming down and taking the photos, should anybody want one, they are on the club website, club Facebook page or, if you are a complete technophobe, I can print you out a copy.

All that is left is to extend my deepest gratitude to every one of our sponsors for your dedication to grassroots sport and each and every player associated with Cosby Rugby Football Club. Without the generous support of people like you, we could not run out every Saturday and play rugby with our mates, which for many of us is the highlight of our week. Cosby RFC isn't just a normal club, it becomes a part of you when you come to play here and to Captain the club this season is a huge honour for me. Without sponsorship, none of this would exist, so again, on behalf of all associated with the club, thank you. We are honoured and privileged that you care enough to support us.

As ever, all sponsors are welcome down at the club any time. The next big date for your diary is Sunday 5th May. This is our President's Day where an invitational XV will play against our first team, to be followed by food and drinks at The Bull's Head. Hopefully we will see you all down then and maybe some of you with your boots on!
