Duo Conor and Rob Olphert Resign as Development Team Managers

On 25-Oct-18, Development Team manager Conor Olphert and his assistant Rob Olphert handed in their resignation. After becoming a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in the summer, a change in work commitments has meant Conor can no longer commit the time required to run the team.

Conor has said “It has been a difficult decision for Rob and I but unfortunately I’m no longer able to commit as much time into taking this exciting project forward. I have thoroughly enjoyed my 18 months in charge and will look back at this time with fond memories.

I’d like to thank the club for the opportunity they gave me to head the exciting Development Team project that is going on at the club. What Pete Osborne has created at Clanfield is an excellent opportunity for young, talented, local players to play at a Hellenic standard through the U18s and Development Team pathway.

I’d particularly like to thank Rob Olphert who has supported me through out and it has been even more enjoyable carrying out the role with my ‘old man’.

Lastly, I’d like to thank all the players that have played for me for their efforts. Leaving these lads has made this decision even more difficult. There is a lot of talent in that group of players and I will be keeping an eye on their progress during their footballing career.”

Olphert leaves the Development Team in 8th, with games in hand on clubs above, winning three of their first six league games. In the last 18 months eleven players have made appearances for the first team after impressing for the Development Team. Olphert has also given debuts to several 16 / 17-year old players who have played their first ever men’s games under his regime.

The club will like to thank Conor and Rob for their commitment and effort. The Development Team project is something relatively new to club but is now fully underway and generating players and its with thanks to Conor and Rob for starting the process.

We will be advertising for new Development Team manager applicants. Please get in touch should you be interested in this exciting opportunity.
