Three home draws for the Robins!

With the 2017/2018 season fast approaching, the draws for the Bluefin Sport Hellenic League Challenge Cup; the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup; and the Faringdon Thursday Cup were made this week. The Robins were drawn three home ties for the three different competitions.

Clanfield were drawn Hellenic Premier side Royal Wooton Bassett Town FC in the Bluefin Sport Hellenic League Challenge Cup. This draw give Osborne's men an opportunity to test themselves early on in the season against a team in a higher division. It also means that ex-skipper Steve Olphert and former midfielder Matthew Cheetham return to the club, as opponents, who now play for RWBTFC.

In the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup, the Robins have been drawn at home to local rivals North Leigh United. These encounters are usually competitive and very tight with Clanfield losing out to North Leigh 1-0 at home and drawing away last season in the league.

After winning the Faringdon Thursday Cup last season, the holders host Letcombe in the first round. The two teams were last years finalists with Clanfield coming out on top winning 2-0. We anticipate another tight game with Letcombe be looking for revenge.

Pete Osborne will hope that the three home ties will give his side a good opportunity to go on decent cup runs this season. The Robins also look forward to the FA Vase Cup draw having met Ground Grading requirements to enter the competition this season.
