Juniors
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our dedicated Junior Section volunteers we are able to offer a non-contact Tag-Rugby section, a Midi section (12-a-side contact game played on a reduced size pitch) and a Youth section (15-a-side contact game played on a full size pitch).
Through sponsorship and the hard work of our volunteers, Calne Rugby’s juniors is completely free, yes that’s right completely FREE.

With no fees for matches and training being completely free, all you will need is boots and a gum shield to train and play for Calne.

juniors

All sections (Tag, Midi and Youths) train on a Sunday morning between 10am and 11.30am at Calne Recreation club on Anchor road in Calne.

Sessions are completely free and are run by our qualified and CRB checked coaches who design the sessions to be fun while still teaching all aspects of rugby

With refreshments available for the parents, Calne Rugby is a fun and friendly place to be on a Sunday for all the family.
On most Sundays our juniors play a large number of games against local teams both at the Recreation club and away at the other team’s grounds. They also attend a number of festivals throughout the year. Unlike some clubs in the area, Calne Rugby promises that all players will get to take part in a game.

Clubhouse

We are very lucky to benefit from one of the best clubhouses in the county. We have the obligatory Pool table, some classy surroundings, a cheap bar, a small function room and a very family/partner friendly atmosphere. Did I mention cheap bar? If I didn’t the prices at our bar will be cheaper than your local pub and there’ll be plenty of Cider for all!!

Local Fixtures

The furthest league fixture, last season, was Westbury, so you can still get home in time for the Bill or Corrie! Or better still stay at the clubhouse for a bit of a social. So no more time consuming trips to the south coast.

Socialising

The post match activities speak for themselves! But have you ever thought of bringing the Mrs? Many players do and sure enough, they talk about shopping, make new friends and go off and do their own thing.

Coaching

At Calne RFC we believe that training regularly will yield the best results on the pitch. Our Head Coach, Richard Kearney, is an ex-player who is greatly respected by the players and other local teams, mainly thanks to his outstanding ability and his non-compromising style of play.

Good Mix of Games

Dorset & Wilts 1 North is currently an ideal level for the club. There is a nice balance of testing fixtures and others ideally suited for blooding new/younger players. And when we have attracted enough new players onwards and upwards!

It is not just about the rugby

Got a dog? Like to Cycle? Play a bit of Golf? In to your camping? The club acts as the base for various non-rugby related activities. A number of player/members regularly get together to swing the irons about on a Sunday morning or fire up the BBQ camping somewhere on the coast and some can be seen wandering all over the county with their mutts in tow.
