A decade to recap and now, to look forward.

The exceptional year of 2020 draws to its conclusion, notably our on field “Linnets” squad continue to deliver with much potential, effective game management and playing skills that are developing to give our supporters and visitors great match days in the new decade.

Off or should that be in the ‘Green’ field, the football club’s long term development plan bears considerable fruit with our ‘New’ Victoria Park’s ground build complete, commissioned for FA adult football with sincere thanks to our professional advisors and contractors, no ‘Planning Contraventions’ and there’s more to come !

Behind the scenes FIFA certification has been achieved, enabling FA ground grading to be secured with Emergency Services content, plus our Covid -19 ‘Test Game’ was successfully played, along with squad training sessions, friendly adult games plus hosting junior fixtures.

In the High Court, the historic complaints made by two individuals (a resident of Merseyside + a resident of the village) were documented, heard objectively, described as “Scandalous, With Out Foundation, Evidence nor Merit“ and as such, the whole case was refused permission to continue and summarily dismissed, with costs awarded to the five defendants.

Lawyers who have cases argue them in court, not in the court of public opinion. That’s innuendo, tittle tackle & gossip.

All in all quite a year for the historians to document adding to a long heritage. Football is going forward at Burscough FC. and at Bobby Langton Way.

We say a sincere thank you to our patient supporters, match day volunteers, sponsors and the off field admin team. Remembering that we entered the year with views of earth moving heavy machinery at the new stadium's site, the 19/20 season’s controversial abrupt ‘Null & Void’ end, plus an on/off 20/21 football season.

It’s a privilege to be able to make a contribution to football, we should never loose sight of it’s not the strongest who survive, it’s those who are prepared to change and adapt that succeed, I also invite us all to consider we’re just custodians, thanking our predecessors for this opportunity and bringing on our successors, making time to enjoy their skills, passion and ability.

Bring on 2021........Stay safe and all at Burscough FC share our compliments of the season, wish all good holidays with a peaceful and competitive new year, go well.

Mike.
