Blaenavon Rugby Football Club was founded in 1877, and over the past 130 years,we have provided, many players for the W.R.U. and Premier divisions. Many who have gone on to represent Wales, British Lions & Barbarians teams all over the world.

1) R.T. Skrimshire. 1899 Wales (3 Caps).
2) C Pritchard. 1928-1929 Wales (4 Caps).
3) Ken Jones - 1947-1957 Wales (45 Caps) British Lions, Barbaraians, Newport and also Empire Games medalist.
4) Allan Lewis - 1966-1967 Wales (6 Caps)& British Lions, Abertillery.
5) Allen Forward - Wales & Pontypool
6) Fenton Coles - 1960 Wales (3Caps)& Pontypool
7) Colin Evans - 1960 Wales (1 Cap)
8) Terry Cobner - Wales , British Lions , Barbarians & Pontypool.
9) John Perkins - Wales & Pontypool.
10) Laurie Daniel - 1970 Wales (1Cap)
11) Mark Taylor - Wales , Barbarians & Swansea. Mark scored the first International try on the Millenium Stadium against South Africa.
12) Chris Huish - Wales B , Barbarians & Pontypool.

Blaenavon RFC have also provided many player over the years, that have gone on to play for
Newport RFC without obtaining International status:

1) Ivor Taylor - Played in the side that beat Australia in 1966
2) Keith Poole - Played in the team that beat the All Blacks in 1963 , and went on to play in the winning Newport RFC sides against Australia & South Africa and in fact was never on a losing side playing against the Southern Hemisphere tourists, Don't think anyone else has achieved that status.

3)Tommy Deans played for Cardiff RFC & Glamorgan County
4)F Dibble - Somerset 1909
5)R Dibble - Somerset 1910
6)Noel Williams - Played for Pontypool RFc & Cardiff RFC
7)Numerous players went on to play for Monmouthshire County and Monmouthshire Union teams.
