Barkingside fell to a 3-2 home defeat against Dunmow Town in their final league game of the season.

James Wakeling's men got off to a great start, taking the lead on four minutes.

A quick throw-in by Filip Ksiadz found Gerard Thompson-Shaw in the area. The midfielder's cross picked out Anthony Da Silva who struck a shot home into the corner, after seeing his innitial touch blocked.

Dunmow though were back level four minutes later, when a crisp move from a loose ball ended with  Lewis Stephen Nial finishing with a finish that wrong-footed 'Side's keeper Lubomir Georgiev.

'Side responded to conceding the equaliser, re-taking the lead two minutes later.

From a Adrijus Lapacinskas corner, Thompson-Shaw flicked the ball onto the far post for forward Yemi Adelani to tap home.

Dunmow though would equalise on 32 minutes. After full-back Callum Laver brought down a winger inside the box, Stuart Zanone scored the redulting penalty.

Experienced forward Zanone then made put Dunmow ahead with a fine strike from outside the box, as 'Side went into half-time behind.

Despite their best efforts 'Side couldn't get back on level terms and fell to defeat.

The win secured Dunmow a 5th place finish and a spot in the play-offs.

'Side remain in 13th place and will now have to wait until the final games are played to learn their place in the standings.

The Sky Blues are back in action on Monday 22nd April, when they host Dagenham & Redbridge at Cricklefields in a match to celebrate our 125th Anniversary. Kick-off for thst match is at 7:45pm.
