Volunteers Information

Did you know that Aylestone St James RFC was founded in 1902 and so has almost 125 years of history? Over the years, that’s a lot of players and members, a lot of memories and a lot of beers! We are proud of the Jimmies history and work hard to sustain the future of the club for many, many more years to come.

Our committee consists of volunteers, as does the day-to-day running of the club. We will always welcome new persons interested in supporting our club and encourage participation through volunteering.

Various people give their time to the Jimmies but its easier to consider our volunteers as falling within one of two main groups – elected volunteers and ad-hoc volunteers.

Elected Volunteers
We have a number of defined roles which are required for the club to operate. These roles can be found at the bottom of this webpage, with a description of what each role involves. These positions are generally elected during our Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is held at the end of the season in May. Due to the critical nature in club operations, these roles require committed persons to fulfil them throughout the season. Don’t let the term ‘commitment’ put you off – the level of commitment require varies depending on the role but there is something for everyone, regardless of skills.

Ad-hoc Volunteers
If you don’t quite fancy becoming an elected volunteer but are still super keen on helping, we still desperately need volunteers for other club matters on an ad-hoc basis.
Our ad-hoc volunteer activities will still provide you with that warm and fuzzy feeling having done a good deed. Whether its helping on a match day or on one of our fundraising events, we are grateful to all of our volunteers and recognise that there would be no Jimmies without this group of people supporting. We would love to put your name on our volunteers list and when the need arises, reach out and see if you are able to help.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or have any questions about doing so, please do let us know. We are currently looking for a new Volunteer Coordinator who will become the main point of contact for our volunteers so in the meantime, please free to reach out to one of our committee (take your pick from the Contacts page).
