Cockermouth dispatch off-pace Aspatria. Callum Thorndike reports.

Aspatria Hornets fell to their second defeat of the week at the hands of a superior Cockermouth Titans side, who made light work of the hosts. Frazer Murray crossed for a hattrick whilst former Hornets Matty Irving and Alex Barton also crossed for the guests. The home side managed to grab late consolation tries in each half through the returning Gary Harrison and Mark Irwin.

The first try came from Frazer Murray who had a simple job of catching the ball and dotting down as the Titans marched up field from a mistake. Matty Irving converted.

It was the former Hornets back who scored next throwing a dummy and diving over, he converted his own score.

Murray scored again after a looping cut out pass found him, gifting him with another simple try in the corner.

Olly Anderton was gifted a try when a high bomb kick was unchallenged, bouncing straight into his arms, before he raced away to score. Irving was again on target with the conversion.

Matty Irving scored his second when he carved through a gap on the Hornets' right side and raced away downfield and under the sticks, before converting his own score.

Murray then completed his target, with the Titans once again exploiting the overlap on their left to score.

Gary Harrison scored a consolation when David Wilson kicked to the corner, where the ball was left uncontested and Harrison dotted down. Rocco Okesene missed the conversion from the side line.

The second half started in the same way as the first when Alex Barton scored from dummy half against his former club. Richard Stamper and Rob Scott were each sent for 10 minutes to the sin bin to cool down as a scuffle broke our between the pair after an untidy play the ball.

Jamie Lightfoot and Sam Wilson each scored long range tries either side of the hour mark extending the lead before Mark Irwin crossed for another consolation under the sticks as the game came to an end.
