2018/19 Season Previews
A preview of what the 1st XV will be up to for the coming season
The 2018/19 season sees Alnwick RFC break new ground. We are competing at the highest league level in our history. North Premier (level 5) contains rugby clubs from Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Durham and just us from Northumberland. The attached diagram shows the league history of all the clubs that are competing in North Premier this season.
Our first league fixture, Wirral away on the 1st September 2018, will be our longest journey of the season and our first league encounter with the Merseyside club. Other clubs we will be meeting this season for the first time in league competition are: Kendal, Kirby Lonsdale, Rossendale and Harrogate.
Our first home league fixture, Blaydon on the 8th of September 2018 (3pm Kick Off) will provide our local derby (of sorts). We haven’t met the Tyneside club in league action since the 1997/98 season. Other clubs we will be renewing league acquaintances with this season are: Vale of Lune, Lymm, Wilmslow, Ilkley, Sandal, Hull and Billingham.
