Acklam pay the price for poor discipline and are well beaten by a well organised Darlington who thoroughly deserved their win.

Acklam travelled to Darlington with arguably one of their strongest teams they could select and hopes where high of gaining their first league victory of the season.

The game started well for Acklam and within the first phase of the game created space around the fringes of the ruck. This however was the only joy that Acklam would have around the ruck area and seemed to press self destruct with the amount of penalties given away.

Darlington kicked well and made use of the ball to good effect throughout the game. They’re pack was well organised and despite a number of over throws from their hooker, when it got into Acklams 22 they used their mail effectively to score 4 out of their 5 tries.

To their credit Acklam continued to try to move the ball but too many dropped passes, sloppy passes and lost possession in the tackle/rucks was their downfall.

It’s not all doom and gloom as it is only the second game of the season but plenty to work on for the lads.

Well done to Darlington who deserved the victory and played well as a team.

We need to all buy in and strive to make the club better and learn from our mistakes. Keep going!

Big game next week against Guisborough! Would appreciate plenty of support as it’s a double header for first and seconds.
Thanks
