Worsbrough responded from a disappointing midweek with a draw at home to Selby Town

After taking the lead, the Briggers will have been disappointed not to have taken all 3 points against Selby, but showed much improvement from their midweek defeat to Retford United.

There was little to report in the early stages, with both teams struggling to play on a tricky surface. It wasn't until the 30th minute that a chance came. It fell to the visitors with Andrew Metcalfe finding space from a corner, but he saw his well struck volley hit the bar.

Just minutes later the Briggers took the lead, a dangerous long throw in from Scott Batty found Liam Graham free in the box. His glancing head came away off the bar, but only as far as Ben Grech, who made no mistake and nodded home.

Moments before half time Selby increased the pressure, but a smart stop from Aidan Tyas denied Joe Daws an equaliser.

The Briggers had matched the 6th placed Selby in an even first half, and took a merited 1-0 lead into the break.

The home side picked up where they left off, and just minutes into the second half forced Selby keeper Paul Hagaron into action. Worsbrough's Keiran Hirst drove into space and his low strike looked to be heading in, but he was denied by a smart save.

This was an important moment in the match, as on 48 minutes Selby found an equaliser. Winger Joe Daws cut back was met by Gary Cowlor who finished high into the net to bring the game level.

Despite conceding, the Briggers did not let their heads go down and limited Selby to few sights of goal in the second half.

With both sides pushing for a winner it was an open ending to the game, the best chance fell for the Briggers. Deep into stoppage time substitute Calan Rollinson whipped ball into the box found Luke Hammond completely free at the backpost, but with the pace on the ball the fullback couldn't keep his header down.

Despite missing chances to win the game, the Briggers will be happy with a point against promotion chasing Selby, and will look to push on from this against Eccleshill United on Wednesday night.
