Two late goals saw a spirited Briggers performance end in misery as Yorkshire Amateur came away with the spoils.

Worsbrough Bridge looked to be heading for all 3 points at home to high flying Yorkshire Amateur but for a late equaliser and stoppage time winner.

It was tough on the Briggers who made the best possible start to the game. 11 minutes in a low driven corner found Jack Mawson, holding off his marker he did well to square to Jack Wilson who fired high into the roof of the net, putting the home side ahead.

On 17 minutes Amateur missed a good chance to equalise, striker Ashley Flynn played Harrison Blakey in behind, he was faced up by home keeper Aiden Tyas who made a good stop to keep the Briggers in the lead.

Impressive organisation and tireless pressing from the Briggers limited the visitors to few further chances before half time, and they deservedly led going into the break.

Half Time: Worsbrough Bridge 1 Yorkshire Amateur 0

Worsbrough picked up where they left off, not allowing Yorkshire to play and it made for a cagey opening to the second period.

This was up until the 65th minute when Fernando Moke’s pull back found Harrison Blakey 5 yards out. His low drive was instinctively stopped by Aiden Tyas, a quality save but Yorkshire should have been level.

Minutes later they did find the net as the tiring Briggers defence continued to drop deeper. After Yorkshire winger Jason Josie found space out wide, his driven cross was glanced in by substitute Adam Shaw.

This was tough for the Briggers who had held their lead for 60 minutes, and they rallied well after the goal to match Yorkshire who were pushing for a winner.

The home side held on until stoppage time, and looked to be heading for an important point against strong opposition before Shaw latched on to a goalmouth scramble and smashed the ball home to heap misery on the Briggers who had deserved something from the game.

There was no time to recover for Worsbrough who came away from a brilliant performance with nothing.
