Matty has been at the club since a very young age. He started playing his very best football toward the end of last season and really impressed, making leaps forward in his ability to be confident in possession.
He'll be looking to get plenty of game time in the YAL and Under 23 team, which will continue his progress and give him more opportunities to prove himself.
Matty is the perfect example of watching a young player keeping playing and, like a fine wine, get better and better with age and experience.
As he's been at the club for so long, it's easy to judge him on what he was like at 15/16 years old... Now he's 19 going on 20 and becoming a very good player.
He'll be judged on merit and current form, and I'm backing him to surprise a lot of people who'll watch him this season.
