With the end of season party postponed the U15s; like other teams submit and End of Season review for players and supporters ..

Report by Team Manager- Katy Urwin.

This season we played 15 games, plus one game on tour and made it to the final in the county cup! Who knows we may have been County Champions .... we will never know! Our U15s season had mixed success but I think one of our best seasons yet, we played 15 matches (I am excluding the match on tour as not sure we were awake that morning) we won 9 and lost 6 we played Vipers a total of 3 times and won each and every time!!!
In our 15 matches we had a winning streak at the start of the season winning four matches in a row. In total this season we put a staggering 464 points on our scoreboard and conceded just 232 points. We actually had 5 games where our oppositions didn't score at all!!!! Here's hoping we can build on this success for next season. When we return we will be U16s and our last season as a Junior team before we move to Colts rugby! I am sure the lads will make it a season to remember.

We are lucky at Lutterworth RFC to be supported by a busy and active committee who really care about the future of the club and the community it serves and ensures that we have well kept grounds, facilities and equipment to train and play rugby. Sally Critchlow and Josh Johnson look after the Junior Section specifically giving up their time to represent our age group on the committee and work tirelessly behind the scenes for us all, thank you both.

Our coaches give up their Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings to coach the lads and spend more time than you will know prepping training drills reflecting on the weekends performance and seeking to correct or build on the match outcomes for the following week - I am sure if the lads could they would give their coaches a big round of applause and thanks. We did as a group of parents contribute to the coaches tour shirts by way of thanks for all that they do for the lads. Rugby is a great game, seeing this fantastic group of lads grow (many of them from U6's) and develop as rugby players on the field and young men off the field is a true privilege. Thank you Mitch, Darius, Tony and Andy.

We are lucky to have other parents who step up to help the team as well: Sally and Martin as our trusty first aiders keeping our lads safe and patching them up if needed, thank you so much; Paul Critchlow who braves the scaffolding to capture video footage of the games which has been really helpful this season to inform areas of strength and areas for improvement for the team - thank you Paul; Paul Weston and Jerry Robinson have also watched the matches as parents but also as keen score keepers and match reporters each week - many thanks for that! Not easy an easy task to do at all! Martin thank you for multi-tasking on the touchline and also providing us with fab pics of the lads playing and on tour. Thank you all.

Thanks also goes to you as parents for getting your lads to training and braving the elements to support your lads at the game. Your support prepping them for the matches and dealing with them afterwards all contributes to their success! so thank you.

A final message to the lads from their coaches:
Thank you for being a great bunch of lads and for the most part making our Thursday nights and Sunday mornings enjoyable!

We hope that you are managing to stay fit and well during lock down, spending important time on your studies and finding the time to stay fit and strong! Exercise of any kind is so important not just for physical fitness but also for your mental well being as well - you will never regret a workout and exercise of any kind is good for you be it running, walking, jogging, cycling or a more focused strength work out which can have a great impact without the use of weights or equipment, using your own body weight for exercises such ad squats, lunges, press-ups and sit-ups can be really effective. Katy has sent out previously some strength and conditioning exercises shared by the Tigers Development Programme which can all be done at home with nothing more than a rugby ball. Building strong muscles can prevent injury as well as making you more effective in your game, don't underestimate how important these strength exercises are for your game. You might not get your heart rate up or build a sweat but something as simple as strengthening your neck will make you stringer in rooks, tackles, scrums and prevent injuries such as as concussions. We hope that you are doing some physical activity at least 3 times a week.

You all did well in the weekly challenges sent out at the start of lock down - keep it up now for yourselves!

Try to think about your position in the game and what you might want to work on to improve your personal performance. Then try to do activities to help you improve (you tube and the internet is a great source of information and workouts and Rugby drills). This might be to get quicker, be stronger, have fast feet, accuracy in passing/throwing for example. Set yourself a goal and smash it! Our 2020/21 season will be here before we know it, whilst we don't know when that will be or how our game may have to be adapted know that we will be back and if you can be fitter, quicker and stronger then we will all be set for an even better season.

Have a great summer, keep yourselves safe and we hope to see you all very soon
