New signing Daniel Stone could have opened his goal scoring account on his debut but his 25 yard strike after twenty minutes went just over plus he had an opportunity with his head five minutes later but failed to find the net. The better of the two chances was the strike. He found himself in plenty of room with his back to goal. Turned and unleashed an early powerful strike, but on reflection could have had a couple more touches and possibly done better. Chances as well as craft and skill were few and far between at Station Road and when they did come neither side could take them. The game was played at a frantic pace and the sides cancelled each other out. Lambourn’s best chance of the half was a header but it didn’t trouble Ben Taunton in goal.

The second half followed the same pattern as both defences held firm. As the game opened up in the last ten minutes both sides had a chance to win the game. A great defence splitting pass straight on to the head of a Lambourn striker caught Tom White napping but fortunate for him the opportunity was headed wide. Stuart Braun for Chinnor had the best chance of the game with only minutes remaining. A cross in from Steve Newell found Braun unmarked and with time on his hands from ten yards out, he chose to hit a first time half volley which brought the best out of the visiting keeper who made the save of the day. It was a hard fought game by two very committed teams. Neither deserved to lose and a point a piece was a fair result. This was not one of your boring nil-nil games. Both teams have to take a lot of credit for defending well.
